At eighteen years old, Joey Feek moved to Nashville to chase a dream that most people deemed impossible. She was a passionate performer with a loving family and an appetite for life. As her husband Rory said, “She knows what the good stuff in life is, and she reaches for it and pushes away the things that don’t matter.”
Joey’s success bloomed quickly once she moved to Tennessee. Within only a few years, she was signed with a record label and became a songwriter. Moments after that she met the love her life, her husband Rory, and the duo quickly became known as Joey + Rory, singing country and bluegrass. Seven albums later, the duo was nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards for 2016.
When Feek was diagnosed with Stage IV Cervical Cancer two years ago, only months after her daughter was born, her fight began. Once the cancer spread and medical professionals revealed that her cancer was terminal, treatments were stopped and Joey began to in-house hospice care. Along the way, she and her husband wrote about their experiences and kept a positive attitude during her last months. Joey was able to say her goodbyes and spend her last moments with her family as she had hoped.
Sound Affects is dedicated to changing lives through the power of music. The combination of Joey’s passion for music and her impenetrable drive for making the best out of life makes her legacy an important one to recognize and one that would have contributed largely to Sound Affects’ mission.PreviousNext
