Background: Sound Affects Founder and Director, Dr. Mona Jhaveri, will be participating in a Bristol-Myers Squibb panel discussion at the upcoming SXSW 2018. The panel discussion is entitled “Hacking Childhood Cancer: Creating New Support Systems.” For more details, see: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2018/events/PP70118
Event Format: Following the panel discussion, Bristol-Myers Squibb will host a Cocktail Reception in support of networking the community of childhood cancer advocates who wish to impact healing through the arts, technology and their intersection. Among the invited guests will be thought leaders/panelists, key media groups and music influencers. The program will feature short speeches by select panelists followed by musical performances from independent artists who support the mission of improving the childhood cancer experience.
Crowdfunding Challenge: To participate in the Challenge artists must: 1) Opt into our “Crowdfunding Challenge” through the Sign Up button below and 2) Raise a minimum of $1000 on our crowdfunding portal. The top three artist who have raised the most funds on the Sound Affects platform will be considered the winners and will be selected to perform at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Cocktail Reception @ SXSW2018. Note: Crowdfunding Challenge will launch February 1, 2018 @ 9:00 AM and end March 1, 2018 @ 11:59pm. Funds received before or after this period will not be counted towards the Challenge. No donations will be refunded.
Performances: Selected artists will be introduced on stage by host and will perform two original songs each using acoustic instruments or track music. Songs being performed must be submitted to mona@soundaffects.org for approval.
Promotion: The event will be promoted through social media and email campaigns using the following hashtags: #Hackchildhoodcancer, #SXSW2018, #MusicBeatsCancer
