Paolo Pedana, better known as Paul Pedana is from Umbertide of Perugia, Italy, At the tender age of 6 he began to play the piano. By the age of twelve he had picked up the guitar and the drums and had started his first band. Paul’s initial interest in music was effused in him by his father at a young age thanks to an enormous record collection comprising everything from 60’s rock to contemporary music.
In high school, Pedana teamed up with Singer and Keyboardist Michele Palafreni , Guitarist Alessandro Bravi and bassist Sammy Tabet to form a band, called Anthropos. Pedana was the drummer and the main songwriter. They added Luca Cozzari as a rhythm guitar and Luca Bianchi to take the place of the previous guitarist. The group recorded their first album “Strangers of The Nowhere” which got its name from a chance encounter Paul had with director Terry Gilliam. Some months later, Paul and Terry met again at the Umbria Film Festival. Pedana and Michele Palafreni delivered the dedicated song to Terry who was very touched and enthusiastic.
At the end of 2010, the band released Live In Ossuary, which included three songs that were later included on the band’s 2011 singles album, Strangers of the Nowhere. “Out Of Time” became Anthropos’s first hit. In 2013 Anthropos’s EP, “I’m Gonna Smash You Down,” was released with commercial success, especially in Belarus where they were immediately offered a place at Most festival alongside other acclaimed bands such as Kasabian.
